There is magic in sunsets and I cannot help but marvel at them. Corny as it may sound, it is by no means an understatement. It’s the combination of light, color, and the mysticism of the sun setting on the horizon that always leaves me in awe. Add the sea into the equation ( instant classic, isn’t it, talking about corny!) and there I am, open-eyed in a state of utter wonder.

Undoubtfully the sea and dusk light are two of my favorite things in the world and combined they’re a match made in heaven. No pun intended. That said, some of the most memorable sunsets seen recently took place with no sea in sight. The pictures below were taken in Campo de Criptana, Ciudad Real, in the region of Castilla-La Mancha, the land which served as an inspiration to Cervantes, to write his worldly-acclaimed novel The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha.

People of this inland region say that manchego landscapes are neither lush green nor exuberant because, here, the exuberance is solely provided by the sky, the indisputable main character. Beautiful and omnipresent, heavy and clear, you cannot help but looking up and being engrossed in their orange-hued sunsets and the magical light.
