Summertime, slow-life and the inner child in me

To say that I that summertime is my favorite time of the year would be an understatement.  It is not the fact that most of us take part of out hard-earned holidays during this period.  Time off to refuel is mandatory for everyone but the magic of summer resides somewhere else. For me, summertime is that sacred time of the year when I can reconnect with my inner kid, and reminisce about the long, carefree days of my childhood. I grew up in a very small town between the Atlantic shores and the countryside and, to this day, summer is somewhat a synonym of pure freedom for me. As much as I would love to have those never-ending school holidays,  summer is that special time of the year when I always revisit that child in me, who grew up running wild and free in maize and wheat fields, climbed trees monkey-style, caught all-sort of insects and spent whole afternoons plunging into the sea. I never craved and think I will ever long for a fancy Summer holiday filled with clubbing, pricey restaurants, and piña coladas. Just give me some sunshine, sea, nature and some time for me to reconnect with that inner child who stills feel in her element spending her days barefoot and running free in maize fields.

This lovely dress is one of my favorites, and it is a great example of the summer-staples style I love. I love throwing in simply-cut, floaty dresses and have a soft spot for backless dresses, in particular. This is another reason why I love summertime, because not only is living easy but also getting dressed. Don’t you agree?
