Homemade Granola: A delicious and nutricious snack in 3 quick steps

Homemade granola has become a frequent go-to snack since I first tasted it, thanks to my better-able than me sister – when it comes to baking -. I am crazy about dried fruits: I feel they are great for my energy levels, they taste delicious and they are good for my skin. Homemade granola is a versatile snack that you can have at any time of the day but it is best in the morning or early afternoon when your body longs for an extra energy boost. My favorite way to have is to mix it with yogurt. Whether it is a vegan version of a dairy one, it blends like heaven,  or if you like, you can have it on its own- it tastes amazing nevertheless. I much prefer my homemade granola version to the processed cereal bars you can buy all around.

These are the ingredients and the 3 steps you need to follow to get your home-made granola ready.

Ingredients:

  • 1 spoonful of low-fat butter.
  • 2 spoonfuls of agave syrup / or honey if you prefer.
  • 2 spoonfuls of  teaspoons of powdered cinnamon
  • 20 grams of sugar cane
  • 1 spoonful of mineral water
  • 200 grams of Oats
  • Sliced almonds (50 grams)
  • Nuts (100 grams)
  • Seeds ( as many as you like: sesame, line, pumpkin, sunflower, Chia, you name them…)
  • Dried Fruits mix
  • Sliced coconut
  • Blueberries ( or any other berries of your choice 🙂

Step 1:

Melt the butter and the agave syrup/ honey at low heat – Once melted, mix them with sugar cane and water.

Step 2:

Put the oats, almonds, nuts, and seeds in a bowl; spread the mix of butter, syrup/honey cinnamon and water over the oats and dried fruits and mix thoroughly.

Spread the mix on an oven- tray, and grill at 150º for approximately 25 minutes. Check regularly and take it out once it looks cooked: the texture must look well-toasted, golden-ish and crunchy.

Let it cold and spread the coconut slices and blueberries over the mix. You can add some dark-chocolate drops if you feel like having an extra treat!
