An Ode to Summer

When I was a little girl, I had this ritual which consisted in writing down the date of my last summertime dip in the sea on a note, proof of date and year required, and store it away in a glass jar. Year after year, I loved to remember those dates, a sort of encoded notes of all the cherished memories of carefree and endless days by the sea. Right up to the moment I quitted my yearly tradition, which was around the time when my teenage angst arrived in earnest, I followed my ritual with quasi-religious fervor.

Fast forward a few decades to 2021 and my last summertime dip date is stored in my phone notes app though, if you ask me, I found the image of the jar filled with those child hand-written notes far more romantic. I don’t see the value in disclosing a list of yearly dates in this blog entry but I wanted to leeave my own little tribute to my favorite time of the year since I can remember. Because no matter what you do, where you travel to or where you are on the globe, summers are always special, global pandemics and all.

So, here it goes: a graphic testimony of my forever special time of the year, filled with what I love the most: my son, the sea, and magic sunsets ( aaaand as a bonus: a short video of dolphins frolicking and jumping out of the water. You’re welcome :).
